Phoenix Design Summit: May 2012
The Phoenix Design Summit was an event aimed at bringing designers and community experts together to use the creative problem solving techniques of design thinking to find solutions to social issues in Phoenix. Teams spent 3 days working to solve problems related to sustainability, health, arts, democracy and education through a series of workshops and exercises that capitalized on the creative potential of the teams’ members.
The summit was an extension of the Aspen Design Summit, an event held since 2005, and part of a larger design event which has been meeting in Aspen since 1949. Similar to TED, the summit format is now being shared so that local-chapters of the AIGA can run events in their own cities. A pilot summit was held in Alabama in July 2011. (more info)
Phoenix hosted the first satellite event organized exclusively by local members of the AIGA.
